Captivating and beautiful 🔮 my favorite childhood book was The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe; I wanted so bad to find Narnia 🥲 sometimes when I hike in new places, i realize the world can be just as magical as we perceive it
I am obsessed with how many of us had this particular fantasy as a child - I truly thought I was the only one, even as I was writing this! It warms my heart!
I absolutely loved the conversation this engaged in with Alice in Wonderland. What a beautiful way to arrive at such a liberating point! "In the wild unknown, I could even be me. Shamelessly, fearlessly, me." This makes my heart so warm. So much joy. So much magic. Love!
ahhhh this is the best gift I could get as a newish writer, this one felt somewhat out of my wheelhouse so far here but it just came to me and I let it come together and I love it too… I wish to believe in magic always!
"In the wild unknown, I could even be me" I have thought this many times. One of my favourite quotes (from the film adaptation), is "You have lost your muchness. You used to be muchier". Another beautiful article, June, one I always resonate with <3
Oh I absolutely loved this 🥹 I pretty much had the same perspective as a child ... Really wanted to be whisked away into another reality... I once even had a dream that the storage beneath my bed had a fake wall at the back that could slide open and would lead to this magical room ... And ofc I did try crawling through the storage once i woke up 😭
Aw thank you so much! This one was a different style for me, still rooted in a true story but exploring what it is to recapture the magic side of my childhood. I’m so glad you enjoyed it!!
Thank you for this beautiful piece! If I had a superpower, I wish I would live in every single book I've read briefly. That would be so amusing and worthwhile! 🥺💗
oooh they are kids books but so fun - two kids have a tree house where they bring in their books and are transported to the land of the book to do learn and do something heroic!
That line about being 'shamelessly, fearlessly me' in the wild unknown really struck a chord. It’s funny how we often feel we need to step into a completely different reality, or a looking glass, to find the permission to be who we already are. Thank you for this beautiful reminder to embrace the 'nonsensical nothingness' of our own wildflowers. Thank you for sharing!
Oh I absolutely adore this June. This is one of my favourite books, so much so that a friend once gifted me with a hardback copy of it. & very much for the same reasons you love it ♡

I had the same fantasy of stepping through my mirror as a little girl! What a wonderful article.

"in the wild unknown, i could even be me. shamelessly, fearlessly, me." — that's the line the whole mirror builds toward.

You took us on a wondrous and fantastical journey June, with just enough insight to you as a person. I really enjoyed this, thank you :)
